Have you ever seen one of the pictures here above on social media? There are different version of the same, but the message is one, you can replace therapy with travelling. As a therapist I can say that I have anecdotal evidence of that. I have often seen an increase in wellbeing in clients simply due to good season and the prospect of an trip. The summer is for many the opportunity to take an holiday and to travel for longer than a week or a weekend. Many agree that you cannot come back unchanged from a journey. What happens as you travel is that there is an expansion of your perspective, of what you consider a possibility and of the alternatives that you can envision for your current situation. This occurs inevitably, even if you don't go looking, even if you just go laying on the beach. Of course, the effect is different between a laying on the beach holiday and a hike through uncontaminated mountain in a remote part of the world, or visiting a faraway culture rather than visiting a sacred site. I personally go looking, I like to visit spiritual sites like churches, stone circles, monasteries and the such. There are many people like me as I am never alone in this places, even when I would love to be. The reason I go looking is that I learned to enjoy greatly the transformative effect that traveling can have. Energies differ in every room within an house, can you imagine the variation you can experience in energy vibration when you go to a different country? The difference in cultures, costumes, eating, all influences the atmosphere. A different way of living is palpable and invite you to try something different. Not to mention the magnetic influence that a lot of sacred sites have. There are many sacred sites all over Europe, some famous like Stonehenge, in England, others known only within more spiritual circles like Chartres Cathedral in France, and finally there are sites that only few know about like the shrine Our Lady in Distress in Heiloo, in The Netherlands. The effect of traveling is always expansiveness of your horizons. Experiencing life from the perspective of a different culture can challenge the way you think. Not everybody enjoy that, but if you do, you probably enjoy immersing yourself in the local culture and try their costumes, their foods, visit with respect their spiritually significant location. I am about to leave for a rather long journey packed with a lot of visit to stone circles, dolmen and similar location. I will write about my experience after the summer, for now I wish you transformative journeys. Lara Briozzo
